Durio Zibethinus

Tomorrow I’m going back to Batu Pahat again. Left my wife and kids to enjoy the school holidays there. The initial plan was for them to come back with either my father in-law or my brother in-law. So they can come back anytime they feel like coming back, but I made a promise to my eldest daughter on Tuesday that I’m coming to fetch them. Well, you know what they say, don’t make a promise you can’t keep, especially to children. They remember! I’m not telling them that I’m coming tomorrow, it’ll be a surprise.

It’s durian galore back in Batu Pahat, or at least at my in-law’s house. When I made my trip last Saturday, I wasn’t aware that it is durian season there but as soon as I realize it, I just can’t stop thinking of durians. (Will post some pictures as soon as I download it to my laptop). It a good thing that it is durian season there, At least I got things to do to keep me occupied and” berkhidmat” for my in-laws. My job is to pick up the durian that fell inside the parit. There’s a lot of parit in Batu Pahat, and we are at Parit Simin. (FYI, there’s no cement in the parit.) so I’ll be in charge to go into the parit and retrieve the durians. Then I’ll go around the kebun to look for durians. Its durian day and night for me. Tomorrow and Sunday morning I’m sure it be durian time again, as during my visit last Saturday, it is not “GHAHAT” yet. Hopefully tomorrow and Sunday it’s ghahat time… Got my eyes on this particular durian tree… the flesh… the taste… the smell… ohh… durian orgasm! (Ghahat? Go ask your Negeri Sembilan friends).

Enough of durians, although I’m supposed to do work my mind is floating away to Batu Pahat… and no, it’s not the durians, but I kinda missed the kids. Being “bachelor” for 4 days makes me appreciate having them. Missed the shouting, crying, quarreling and kissing them goodnite. I guess you’ll never know how much you miss your kids until they are not by your side. Alyna, Amna & Arief, wait for ayah ye? I’m coming tomorrow.
